Fees are invoiced annually at $250 for developed lots and $175 for undeveloped lots. Members who have multiple lots are billed $10 for each additional lot. Fees are primarily used to support maintenance of the lakes and common grounds as well as occasional projects approved by the Board. These fees are mandatory for anyone owning a lot in Whippoorwill. Invoices are sent out by mail in the first quarter of the year and are due within 30 days of receipt. Any invoice that is past due will be subject to a $20 per month late fee.
Copies of all relevant documents may be downloaded from our website. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the covenants of our subdivision. Covenant requirements are often more restrictive than Parish regulations and are enforceable by law. Any building projects, for example, must be approved by the Board's Architectural Committee. The cutting of trees is also limited in the covenants and must be approved in advance. There are other provisions as well that you should familiarize yourself with. Violations can result in fines as determined by the Board and in some cases unapproved projects may have to be moved or not allowed at all.
Submit your request by email to wgi.board@gmail.com and include your phone number and lot number and a Board member will get back with you. Be prepared to provide drawings of building projects as well as drawings of position on the property. The process is generally not lengthy and will not hold up your plans. Being prepared with descriptions of what you propose to do will aid in speeding the process.
Board members are nominated by a current Board member and then elected by the Board. We are always interested in folks who are willing to help but keep in mind it does involve being willing to roll up your sleeves and do the work. There is an annual general membership meeting on the second Saturday in May and usually held at the Fire Station on Highway 21 in Bush. A notice is sent out to all members and also posted around the subdivision. We encourage you to attend so you can participate in the process of managing our association.

As a country community, Whippoorwill is pet friendly. Specific rules regarding pets may be viewed in the covenants and regulations, but the subdivision was organized with animals in mind. For example, there is a carve out (servitude) along all streets to accommodate horseback riding, among other things. All pets must be kept under control and on a leash when outside your area. Parish rules must also be observed. If you have specific questions, please contact us.
There are some restrictions as to the kinds of vehicles allowed to be parked on your property. For example, large commercial vehicles are not permitted and no "junk" vehicles can be stored. For specifications regarding vehicles, please refer to our covenants or if you have a specific question, contact us.
Garbage pickup is not provided as part of our association. You need to contract directly with the trash/garbage companies available that services our subdivision. That information can be found on the "Neighborhood Information" Page. Garbage receptacles should only be on the street on the day of your pickup.
Solar panels are allowed but any plans must be approved by the Architectural Committee.
Every resident should maintain their property by, among other things, keeping up with their lawns and trimming of their trees. This helps deter snakes from hiding and rat infestation. Lot owners are required in our covenants to maintain their properties.. If a lot owner or resident fails to comply we may have to enforce this rule and could elect to mow such lots and recover the cost from the property owner. (See WGI Covenants, Article X, Section 10.1)
